HPC in Biomechanics

MV is group leader at the Applications department (CASE) of Barcelona Supercomputing Center. In this seminar, he will talk about the research lines and application projects they have in the field of Biomechanics. In all these projects, there are three kind of players: medical doctors, bioengineers / clinical image scientists and computer science researchers, all with their own background and expertise. Once the communication barriers are surpassed, the collaboration potential is enormous. In these projects, BSC plays the role of "computer science researchers", with particular expertise in numerical methods and parallelization. Among the projects MV will address in the talk are: cardiac electromechanical modelling, respiratory system and long skeletal muscles. In all these projects, the use of large scale computational resources is decisive. The talk will describe methods, tools and resources used in them.
